Family Class

 (birth through age 5)

Each week in Music Together Mixed-age Family Class at Prelude Music Classes, babies, toddlers, preschoolers and the grownups who love them® gather for 45 minutes of fun-filled family music time. Your teacher will lead you and the other families in music activities ranging from lullabies to full-on jam sessions (with child-friendly instruments, of course!). It's so much fun you won't realize how much learning is taking place!

You'll take home the award-winning music used in class, along with an illustrated songbook and other resources. As you discover new ways to play with music all week long, you'll be supporting your child's music-learning and overall development---even if you don't think of yourself as a great singer or dancer.

Why mixed ages?

Child development researchers discovered that grouping children of different ages in one class encourages natural, family-style learning, so Music Together developed the Mixed-Age Music Class. In this class, everyone participates at their own levels: babies vocalize, listen and observe; toddlers play and experiment; preschoolers build confidence as they emerge as classroom leaders. Grownups are happy because everyone can come to class together!

Babies Class - Birth to 8 months only

 (Birth to 8 months only)

The one-semester Music Together Babies Class was created especially for families with infants under nine months old. You might be wondering what your newborn could possibly take away from a music class and how old they have to be before they can benefit. It's never too early to start making music! Your little one is a natural-born music-maker, ready to start learning music at birth.

Maybe you'be noticed that your baby responds when you play a song in the car or sing to soothe him. Babies are naturally musical-- and you don't have to be a great singer or dancer yourself to nurture their love of music.

As in everything, you are your baby's first and best teacher. In this music class for babies, your Music Together teacher will show you how you can Support your baby's music development through simple and fun activities. You'll learn lots of music ways to connect with your little one through music, and you'll bond with the other new parents in your class, too.

Rhythm Kids® (ages 4-9)

 Ages 4-9 Years Old

For children from preK through second grade, Rhythm Kids® by Music Together is the music and move-ment program where children explore rhythm through drumming, singing, and dancing to a combination of Music Together songs specifically adapted for their age and new music inspired from around the world. Classes are led by our trained teachers, and children continue learning outside of class with our proprietary interactive videos.

In Rhythm Kids® classes, students explore rhythm by playing with music from around the world. Music Together–trained teachers lead dynamic classroom activities designed especially for early elementary students/preschoolers, and the discovery continues at home with the interactive Rhythm Kids® videos, easily viewable on our app. As they drum, sing, and move to new rhythms, children naturally build musicality that helps them prepare for formal music lessons. Opportunities to solo, work in ensembles, and improvise support social and listening skills, self-expression, and self-confidence.

Supportive Family Class

If you're looking for a sensory friendly music class in a smaller group setting, then Supportive Family Class was made for your needs.

Many children who are neurodiverse will most likely thrive in a mixed-age class because our "accept and include" philosophy means that we respect different ages, stages, and learning styles. Our teachers have specialized training to be considerate & mindful of all our children's needs, such as making necessary adjustments to the music volume, additional repetition to give more opportunity to engage with a specific song, and more. Supportive Family Class includes all of the elements of a Music Together® class--songs, chants, movement activities, and instrument play--but with fewer children and more individualized attention.

Our Supportive Family Class will be led by Natalie Broussard starting Fall 2025. Natalie Broussard is an Early Education Music Specialist of the Prelude Music Foundation. Natalie has led the majority of our SPED classes at schools where the Foundation teaches, and is currently working on her Post-Baccalaureate at the University of Houston in Communication Sciences & Disorders.

You'll take home the award-winning music used in class, along with an illustrated songbook and other resources. As you discover new ways to play with music all week long, you'll be supporting your child's music-learning and overall development---even if you don't think of yourself as a great singer or dancer.

Music, Math & EMergent Literacy Camp (ages 4-6)
Prelude Music Classes is thrilled to announce our Music, Math & EMergent Literacy Camp for children ages 4-6 years old. MM&M is all about using music to help children develop the necessary skills for success in early acaedmics, while still keeping learning fun & engaging. Our educators will help your child develop foundational skills such as concepts of print, letter knowledge, oral language, phonological & phonetic awareness.

Camp is limited to 10 children. Come during the hottest hours of the day! Music, Math & EMergent Literacy Camp will help keep your child busy learning while also acquiring some important life skills. All campers will go home with the arts and crafts they created at camp, and a booklet which we encourage parents to read with them to reinforce what they learn while at camp.
Music and Mindfulness Camp (ages 6-10)

Prelude Music Classes is thrilled to begin a Music and Mindfulness camp this summer for children ages 6 to 10. This is a unique camp experience for children who are interested in learning how to play the violin and ukulele. Many children who attend camp decide after a week if they want to continue private study. This is a great way to introduce a child to playing an instrument for the first time. All campers will have a daily group violin and ukulele lesson, will practice rhythm and tonal work through drumming, song and dance. Every day, we will have a craft activity to inspire mindfulness as a general practice. Our camp will start and end with breathing exercises. We will have fun singing, dancing, drumming, and playing instruments! We will also practice gratitude, breathing exercises, and make crafts that will calm the mind, help with focus, and will help children reflect on kindness for each other and their family members.

Camp is limited to 10 children. Come during the hottest hours of the day! Music and Mindfulness will help keep your child busy learning while also acquiring some important life skills. On Friday, all parents and or caregivers are invited to a demonstration showing some of the skills and music they learned throughout the week.
